The eWatch project was an observation framework to support the understanding of innovation and change in education across Europe brought on by the widespread use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and the emergence of the Information Society. The eWATCH project aimed at building a broad conceptual framework, capable of integrating information and data about ICTs in Education, from various sources with varying reliability. It has, at the same time, established a consistent process for the development of “education market intelligence” and the supply of relevant information and reporting for the different types of planning and decision-making needs (public education authorities, education establishments, schools, etc.). The ultimate aim of the project was to support the policy decision-making and public awareness, by incorporating the widely accepted framework for quality in school education in Europe, the data and information provided by the Ministries of Education, the EURYDICE and Eurostat and by taking into account the research work carried out, in parallel, by the OECD and IEA.
